Birth Control Tapering from Hell

Its been 22 days since i started tapering off my birth control pills and i can tell you it has been hell! Ive only cut 1/4 of a pill, these pills are very very tiny and they are coated with a sugar coating, so its very hard to cut, so im not cutting exactly 1/4 of a pill so i dont know if that could make a big difference.

Uncontrollable crying, mood swings, woman problems, irritability, anger, depression, apathy the list goes on. Ill drop again as soon as this has settled down some. Im thinking of going to a gynaecologist, but damn they are so expensive, almost my whole months salary just for a consultation!!

Aww, NH, you’re doing a fantastic job. I’m really sorry you feel you have to taper off the BC while you’re still in such an intense period of AD w/d. I do think it would be best to go ultra, ultra slowly. Don’t go down on the BC again until you see improvement on the BC w/d symptoms and then still wait awhile.

Another option is to stop where you are. You are worried about the effect of the BC on your health and you feel you have to get off, but I’m not sure there is a huge rush. Now, you’ve lowered your dose of BC, so you’ve done that to improve your health. You could just sit there for awhile. Obviously the BC no longer works as contraception, but you could just take the ¾ dose for several months.
