PETER BREGGIN

Peter Roger Breggin M.D. is an American psychiatrist and critic of contemporary psychiatry and psychiatric medication. In his books, he promotes the idea of replacing psychiatric drugs and electroconvulsive therapy with other approaches like psychotherapy, education and counseling. He wrote several books, among them Toxic Psychiatry, Talking Back to Prozac and Talking Back to Ritalin, in which he expresses strong criticism of modern psychiatry. In his books he also proves the fact that psychiatric patients very often feel worse after the drug treatment is introduced. For more than three decades Dr. Breggin has been a medical expert in numerous civil and criminal suits against the manufacturers of psychiatric drugs.
